Oggi vi presentiamo Kaede Nakamura (all'anagrafe Kaede Shirakawa, o semplicemente KAE). Dietro questo nome d'arte, scelto in onore della nonna materna che l'ha cresciuta dopo la prematura scomparsa della madre, c'è una ragazza classe 2002 con una storia di cadute vertiginose e rinascite straordinarie.
Una Vita a Colori, Tra Shibuya e le Dinamiche Familiari
Nata nella regione del Kansai, da dieci anni Kaede vive nella periferia di Shibuya. La sua è una famiglia allargata e decisamente a trazione femminile: vive con le sue due sorelle (Yuki e Reina), la matrigna e tre sorellastre. Dal momento che il fratello maggiore, Ren, vive fuori Tokyo per lavoro, suo padre è rimasto letteralmente l'unico uomo di casa. "In casa siamo sette donne e mio padre, poverino!", scherza Kaede. Oltre alla musica, la sua vita è divisa tra il lavoro di grafica nell'azienda di famiglia, serate a ballare, anime, manga, videogiochi e l'amore smisurato per il suo cagnolino.
Dalle Luci da Idol al Buio, Fino alla Rinascita
Il percorso musicale di Kaede non inizia dietro a uno schermo. A 16 anni, insieme alle sorelle, fonda il gruppo di ballo Lunarian. Vengono notate, entrano nel mondo delle Idol giapponesi e iniziano a esibirsi dal vivo. Sembra l'inizio di un sogno, ma la vita ha altri piani. A 19 anni, a causa del morbo di Crohn e di un'operazione chirurgica, la sua carriera da Idol si interrompe bruscamente.
È l'inizio di un periodo nerissimo, aggravato nel 2023 da episodi di stalking e violenza da parte di un ex fidanzato. Kaede sprofonda nella depressione. Ma è proprio nel buio che la creatività diventa un salvagente. Inizia a scrivere un diario per metabolizzare il dolore, ma non un diario qualunque: lo scrive in rima.
"Sono nati i ritornelli, poi le strofe, e alla fine quelle pagine si sono trasformate in centinaia di canzoni. Ne ho scritte più di 350, raccontando me stessa, a volte per metafore, a volte attraverso le mie emozioni", ci confida.
L'Incontro con Suno e le "Eclipse Girls"
A luglio del 2025, le sorelle di Kaede aprono una pagina su Suno. All'inizio lei è restia, quasi imbarazzata. Sono le sorelle a formare la prima bozza della band virtuale di famiglia, le Eclipse Girls. A ottobre, finalmente, Kaede cede. Prende i suoi testi, intrisi di dolore e rabbia, e li fonde con sonorità rock e metal, i suoi generi rifugio.
Da quel momento, è un'esplosione creativa. Kaede diventa una perfezionista assoluta: studia ogni prompt al millimetro (i suoi si aggirano tra gli 800 e i 999 caratteri) e spende oltre 80.000 crediti su Suno, riempiendo il computer di appunti. Il suo obiettivo? Esprimere esattamente ciò che ha dentro, ispirandosi a leggende del rock internazionale, ma soprattutto a icone giapponesi contemporanee come Ado, di cui è follemente innamorata per il senso di mistero e l'emotività vocale, e star internazionali come Billie Eilish.
Il Contrasto Giapponese: Tra Hatsune Miku e la Tradizione del "Kokoro"
Ma come viene vista la musica AI nel paese del Sol Levante? Kaede ci offre una prospettiva affascinante. Da una parte, i giovani giapponesi sono cresciuti con i Vocaloid e Hatsune Miku, quindi accettano con naturalezza l'idea di una voce generata al computer. Dall'altra, i musicisti tradizionali sono molto più cauti. In Giappone la musica è quasi sacra, legata al concetto di kokoro (cuore/anima). L'intelligenza artificiale, ci spiega Kaede, "può copiare le note, ma non potrà mai metterci l'anima umana". Ecco perché per lei l'AI resta uno strumento: l'idea principale, il testo e l'emozione devono sempre partire da un essere umano.
Il Palcoscenico Globale: Dai Contest alle Radio Giapponesi
La voglia di mettersi in gioco spinge Kaede a esplorare la scena internazionale. Navigando alla ricerca di festival dedicati all'AI tra Stati Uniti, Australia ed Europa, si imbatte quasi per caso in una competizione italiana. È il febbraio 2026 quando decide di mettersi alla prova presentando il suo primo videoclip musicale generato con l'intelligenza artificiale. Il risultato è sorprendente: conquista il terzo posto nella categoria internazionale e il sesto nella classifica generale, sbaragliando una concorrenza agguerritissima.
Ma è solo l'inizio. Kaede approda a Mobvision, dove riesce a superare le selezioni e a raggiungere la semifinale, piazzandosi tra i primi 60 su oltre 1.200 partecipanti. Attualmente, il suo sguardo è puntato sui grandi palchi europei, con la partecipazione a eventi di spicco come l'Eurorevision.
Nell'attesa dei risultati, Kaede non è rimasta con le mani in mano, inviando i suoi brani a emittenti radiofoniche negli Stati Uniti e in Asia. Ma il traguardo che le ha scaldato di più il cuore è un altro: sentire i propri pezzi trasmessi dalle piccole emittenti locali e radiofoniche del Giappone. "È stata una soddisfazione davvero speciale per me", confessa, "sapere che la mia musica viene ascoltata anche lì, nel mio Paese, significa davvero molto".
L'Approdo nella "Matrice Italiana" e le Notti Insonni
È proprio durante questo intenso viaggio tra contest e festival che Kaede inizia a tessere la sua rete di amicizie internazionali. Un legame speciale e profondo nasce con la producer MaviElis, che diventa un punto di confronto fondamentale e la spinge a sbarcare su TikTok, piattaforma che fino a quel momento aveva sempre evitato.
Da lì, l'ingresso a capofitto nelle live italiane. Non è stato un percorso privo di ostacoli: oltre a qualche pregiudizio (c'è persino chi pensava non fosse reale, ma un personaggio inventato), Kaede ha dovuto scontrarsi con... il nostro inflessibile regolamento!
"Ho inviato una canzone di 4 minuti e 30 ed è stata scartata subito. Ero delusa, ma poi ho capito di non aver letto le regole! Colpa mia!", racconta ridendo.
Ma l'ostacolo più grande è stato il fuso orario: per seguire le dirette italiane, Kaede finiva spesso per andare a dormire alle 6 del mattino, beccandosi le sgridate del padre, delle sorelle e arrivando in ritardo al lavoro. "Ora che le vacanze sono finite, questa storia di restare sveglia tutta la notte deve finire!".
Uno Sguardo al Futuro
Oggi Kaede non ha fretta. Vuole crescere passo dopo passo, facendosi conoscere attraverso la sua musica, nonostante la barriera linguistica. Gestisce il progetto Eclipse Girls, che ha superato gli 8.150 iscritti sul canale collettivo, e ha già raggiunto un traguardo incredibile: l'approvazione ufficiale della band americana Motionless in White per pubblicare una sua cover.
Continuerà a sperimentare, a collaborare (ha già lavorato con amici come Mavi e PRC) e a cambiare generi, tenendo sempre fede alla sua vera natura: una ragazza che ha saputo trasformare le proprie ferite in musica, usando la tecnologia non per nascondersi, ma per farsi sentire ancora più forte.

Today, we introduce Kaede Nakamura (born Kaede Shirakawa, or simply KAE). Behind this stage name, chosen in honor of the maternal grandmother who raised her after the premature loss of her mother, is a young woman born in 2002, with a story of dramatic falls and extraordinary rebirths.
A Colorful Life, Between Shibuya and Family Dynamics
Born in the Kansai region, Kaede has lived on the outskirts of Shibuya for the past ten years. Hers is a large and decidedly female-dominated family: she lives with her two sisters, Yuki and Reina, her stepmother, and three stepsisters. Since her older brother Ren lives outside Tokyo for work, her father has literally remained the only man in the household.
“There are seven women and my father at home, poor guy!” Kaede jokes.
Besides music, her life is divided between her graphic design work at the family business, nights out dancing, anime, manga, video games, and her immense love for her little dog.
From Idol Lights to Darkness, and Finally Rebirth
Kaede's musical journey did not begin behind a screen. At the age of 16, together with her sisters, she founded the dance group Lunarian. They were noticed, entered the world of Japanese idols, and began performing live. It seemed like the beginning of a dream, but life had other plans. At 19, due to Crohn's disease and surgery, her career as an idol came to an abrupt end.
This marked the beginning of an extremely dark period, made even more difficult in 2023 by episodes of stalking and violence from a former boyfriend. Kaede fell into depression. But it was precisely in the darkness that creativity became a lifeline. She began writing a diary to process her pain, but not an ordinary diary: she wrote it in rhyme.
“First came the choruses, then the verses, and eventually those pages turned into hundreds of songs. I have written more than 350, telling my own story, sometimes through metaphors, sometimes through my emotions,” she tells us.
The Encounter with Suno and the “Eclipse Girls”
In July 2025, Kaede's sisters created a page on Suno. At first, she was reluctant, almost embarrassed. It was her sisters who created the first draft of the family's virtual band, the Eclipse Girls. Then, in October, Kaede finally gave in. She took her lyrics, filled with pain and anger, and blended them with rock and metal sounds, the genres she considers her musical refuge.
From that moment on, a creative explosion began. Kaede became an absolute perfectionist: she studies every prompt down to the smallest detail, with her prompts usually ranging between 800 and 999 characters, and she has spent more than 80,000 credits on Suno, filling her computer with notes. Her goal? To express exactly what she carries inside, drawing inspiration from legends of international rock, but above all from contemporary Japanese icons such as Ado, whom she absolutely adores for her sense of mystery and vocal emotion, as well as international stars such as Billie Eilish.
The Japanese Contrast: From Hatsune Miku to the Tradition of “Kokoro”
But how is AI music perceived in the Land of the Rising Sun? Kaede offers us a fascinating perspective. On one hand, young Japanese people have grown up with Vocaloid and Hatsune Miku, so they naturally accept the idea of a computer-generated voice. On the other hand, traditional musicians are much more cautious. In Japan, music is almost sacred, deeply connected to the concept of kokoro, meaning heart or soul. Artificial intelligence, Kaede explains, “can copy the notes, but it can never put the human soul into them.” That is why, for her, AI remains a tool: the main idea, the lyrics and the emotion must always come from a human being.
The Global Stage: From Competitions to Japanese Radio Stations
The desire to challenge herself leads Kaede to explore the international scene. While searching for AI-focused festivals in the United States, Australia and Europe, she almost by chance comes across an Italian competition. It is February 2026 when she decides to put herself to the test by submitting her first music video generated with artificial intelligence. The result is remarkable: she takes third place in the international category and sixth place in the overall ranking, standing out among an extremely competitive field.
But that is only the beginning. Kaede moves on to Mobvision, where she successfully passes the selection process and reaches the semifinals, placing among the top 60 out of more than 1,200 participants. Her sights are now set on major European stages, with participation in prominent events such as Eurorevision.
While waiting for the results, Kaede has not been sitting still. She has been submitting her songs to radio stations in the United States and Asia. But the achievement that has warmed her heart the most is something else: hearing her songs played by small local and radio stations in Japan. “It was a really special satisfaction for me,” she admits. “Knowing that my music is being listened to there, in my own country, really means a lot.”
Entering the “Italian Matrix” and Sleepless Nights
It is precisely during this intense journey through competitions and festivals that Kaede begins building her network of international friendships. A special and profound bond develops with producer MaviElis, who becomes an important point of reference for her and encourages her to join TikTok, a platform she had always avoided until then.
From there, she dives headfirst into Italian live streams. It has not been a journey without obstacles. Alongside some prejudice (there were even people who thought she was not real, but rather an invented character), Kaede also had to face... our unforgiving rules!
“I submitted a four-minute-and-thirty-second song and it was immediately rejected. I was disappointed, but then I realized that I hadn't read the rules! My fault!” she says, laughing.
But the biggest obstacle was the time difference. To follow the Italian live streams, Kaede would often stay awake until 6 a.m., earning scoldings from her father and sisters and arriving late for work. “Now that the holidays are over, this whole staying-up-all-night thing has to end!”
A Look Toward the Future
Today, Kaede is in no rush. She wants to grow step by step, becoming known through her music despite the language barrier. She manages the Eclipse Girls project, which has surpassed 8,150 subscribers on the collective's channel, and has already achieved an incredible milestone: official approval from the American band Motionless in White to release her cover.
She will continue experimenting, collaborating (she has already worked with friends such as Mavi and PRC), and moving between different genres, always staying true to who she really is: a young woman who has managed to transform her wounds into music, using technology not to hide herself, but to make herself heard even more loudly.
